evaṁ mayā śrutam| ekasmin samaye bhagavān śrāvastyāṁ viharati sma jetavane'nāthapiṇḍadasyārāme mahatā bhikṣusaṁghena sārdhaṁ paripūrṇena arhadbhikṣusahasreṇa, bodhisattvānāṁ ca mahāsattvānāṁ mahāsaṁnāhasaṁnaddhānāṁ paripūrṇairdaśabhirbodhisattvaśatasahasraiḥ sārdhaṁ sarvairavinivartanīyairanuttarāyāḥ samyaksaṁbodheḥ| tadyathā-mañjuśriyā ca kumārabhūtena, maitreyeṇa ca, asaṅgapratibhānena ca, anikṣiptadhureṇa ca, evaṁpramukhairdaśabhirbodhisattvaśatasahasraiḥ||
atha khalu mañjuśrīḥ kumārabhūto'ruṇodgatakālasamaye svakādvihārānniṣkramya yena tathāgatavihārastenopasaṁkrāmat| upasaṁkramya vihārasya bahirdvāre sthito'bhūttathāgatasya darśanāya vandanāya paryupāsanāya| athāyuṣmānapi śāradvatīputraḥ svakādvihārānniṣkramya yena tathāgatavihārastenopasaṁkrāmadbhagavato darśanāya vandanāya paryupāsanāya| athāyuṣmānapi pūrṇo maitrāyaṇīputraḥ, āyuṣmānapi mahāmaudgalyāyanaḥ, āyuṣmānapi mahākāśyapaḥ, āyuṣmānapi mahākātyāyanaḥ, āyuṣmānapi mahākauṣṭhilaḥ, anye ca mahāśrāvakāḥ svakasvakebhyo vihārebhyo niṣkramya yena bhagavato vihārastenopasaṁkrāntāḥ, upasaṁkramya ekānte tasthuḥ||
atha khalu bhagavānabhikrāntābhikrāntaṁ mahāśrāvakasaṁnipātaṁ viditvā svakādvihārānniṣkramya bahirdvārasyaikānte prajñapta evāsane nyaṣīdat| niṣadya ca bhagavān jānanneva āyuṣmantaṁ śāradvatīputramāmantrayate sma-kutastvaṁ śāradvatīputra kalyamevāgatya tathāgatavihāradvāre sthitaḥ ? evamukte āyuṣmān śāradvatīputro bhagavantametadavocat-sarvaprathamataraṁ bhagavan mañjuśrīḥ kumārabhūtastathāgatavihāradvāre sthitaḥ, paścādvayaṁ bhagavantaṁ draṣṭukāmāḥ||
atha khalu bhagavān jānanneva mañjuśriyaṁ kumārabhūtamāmantrayate sma-satyaṁ kila tvaṁ mañjuśrīḥ sarvaprathamataraṁ tathāgatavihāradvāre sthitastathāgatasya darśanāya vandanāya paryupāsanāya ca ? evamukte mañjuśrīḥ kumārabhūto bhagavantametadavocat-evametat bhagavan, evametat sugata, prathamataramasmyāgataḥ svakādvihārānniṣkramya yena tathāgatavihārastenopasaṁkrāntaḥ, upasaṁkramya ekānte sthito bhagavato darśanāya vandanāya paryupāsanāya| tatkasya hetoḥ ? tathā hi bhagavan atṛpto'haṁ tathāgatasya darśanena vandanena paryupāsanena ca| yadapyahaṁ bhagavan tathāgatamupasaṁkramāmi darśanāya vandanāya paryupāsanāya, tatsarvasattvānāmarthāya| sacedbhagavan tathāgato draṣṭavyo vanditavyaḥ paryupāsitavyaḥ, evaṁ draṣṭavyaḥ, evaṁ vanditavyaḥ, evaṁ paryupāsitavyaḥ, yathāhaṁ paśyāmi yathāhaṁ vande yathāhaṁ paryupāse| evaṁ tathāgato dṛṣṭo bhavati vanditaḥ paryupāsitaśca| ahaṁ ca bhagavan sarvasattvānāṁ kṛtaśastathāgataṁ paśyāmi| bhagavānāha-kathaṁ mañjuśrīstathāgato draṣṭavyo yāvat paryupāsitavyaḥ ? mañjuśrīrāha-tathatākāreṇa tathāgataṁ paśyāmi avikalpākāreṇa anupalambhayogena, evamanutpādākāreṇa tathāgataṁ paśyāmi, yāvad abhāvākāreṇa tathāgataṁ paśyāmi| na ca tathatā samudāgacchati, evaṁ tathāgataṁ paśyāmi| na tathatā bhavati na vibhavati, evaṁ tathāgataṁ paśyāmi| na tathatā deśasthā na pradeśasthā, evaṁ tathāgataṁ paśyāmi| na tathatā atītā na anāgatā na pratyutpannā, evaṁ tathāgataṁ paśyāmi| na tathatā dvayaprabhāvitā nādvayaprabhāvitā, evaṁ tathāgataṁ paśyāmi| na tathatā saṁkliśyate na vyavadāyate, evaṁ tathāgataṁ paśyāmi| na tathatā utpadyate na nirudhyate, evaṁ tathāgataṁ paśyāmi| evaṁ tathāgato dṛṣṭo bhavati vanditaḥ paryupāsitaśca| evamukte bhagavān mañjuśriyaṁ kumārabhūtametadavocat-evaṁ paśyaṁstvaṁ mañjuśrīḥ kiṁ paśyasi ? mañjuśrīrāha-evaṁ paśyannahaṁ bhagavan na kiṁcitpaśyāmi| evamahaṁ paśyan na kasyaciddharmasyotpādaṁ paśyāmi na nirodhaṁ paśyāmi||
athāyuṣmān śāradvatīputro mañjuśriyaṁ kumārabhūtametadavocat-duṣkarakārakastvaṁ mañjuśrīḥ, yastvaṁ tathāgatamevaṁ paśyasi evaṁ paryupāsse, yasya ca te sarvasattvānāmantike mahāmaitrī pratyupasthitā| na ca te kācitsattvopalabdhiḥ sattvābhiniveśo vā| sarvasattvaparinirvāṇāya cāsi pratipannaḥ| na ca te kaścitsattvābhiniveśaḥ pravartate| sarvasattvānāṁ ca te kṛtaśaḥ saṁnāhaḥ saṁnaddhaḥ| sa cānupalambhayogena yāvadabhāvayogena| evamukte mañjuśrīḥ kumārabhūtaḥ āyuṣmantaṁ śāradvatīputrametadavocat-evametad bhadanta śāradvatīputra yathā kathayasi| sarvasattvaparinirvāṇāya saṁnāhaścaiṣa saṁnaddhaḥ| na ca me kācit sattvopalabdhirvā sattvābhiniveśo vā| nāyaṁ bhadanta śāradvatīputra saṁnāha evaṁ saṁnaddhaḥ-kathamahaṁ sattvadhātorūnatvaṁ vā kuryāṁ pūrṇatvaṁ vā ? sacedbhadanta śāradvatīputra parikalpamupādāya ekaikasmin buddhakṣetre gaṅgānadīvālukopamā buddhā bhagavanto bhaveyuḥ, ekaikaśca tathāgato gaṅgānadīvālukopamān kalpāṁstiṣṭhet sarātriṁdivaṁ ca dharmaṁ deśayamānaḥ, ekaikayā dharmadeśanayā yāvanto gaṅgānadīvālukāsamairbuddhairbhagavadbhiḥ sattvā vinītāḥ, tāvataḥ sattvānekaikastathāgataḥ ekaikayā dharmadeśanayā vinayet, evamapi kṛtvā naiva sattvadhātorūnatvaṁ vā pūrṇatvaṁ vā prajñāyate| tatkasmāddhetoḥ ? sattvaviviktatvāt sattvāsattvād bhadanta śāradvatīputra sattvadhātorna conatvaṁ vā pūrṇatvaṁ vā prajñāyate||
evamukte āyuṣmān śāradvatīputro mañjuśriyaṁ kumārabhūtametadavocat-yadi mañjuśrīḥ sattvaviviktatvāt sattvāsattvāt sattvadhātornaivonatvaṁ na pūrṇatvaṁ vā prajñāyate, tatkasyedānīṁ bodhimabhisaṁbudhya dharmaṁ deśayiṣyasi ? evamukte mañjuśrīḥ kumārabhūta āyuṣmantaṁ śāradvatīputrametadavocat-yadā tāvadbhadanta śāradvatīputra atyantatayā sattvānupalabdhiḥ, tatko'trābhisaṁbhotsyate ? kasya vā dharmaṁ deśayiṣyate ? tatkasmāddhetoḥ ? tathā hi bhadanta śāradvatīputra atyantatayā sarvadharmānupalabdhiḥ||
atha khalu bhagavān mañjuśriyaṁ kumārabhūtametadavocat-yadā tāvanmañjuśrīḥ atyantatayā sarvadharmānupalabdhiḥ, tatkimidānīṁ sattvamapi prajñāpayiṣyasi ? api ca| sacenmañjuśrīḥ kaścidevaṁ pṛcchet-kiyantaḥ sattvā iti, kiṁ tasya tvaṁ vadeḥ ? mañjuśrīrāha-tasyāhaṁ bhagavan evaṁ pṛṣṭa evaṁ vadeyam-yāvanta eva buddhadharmā iti| saced bhagavan punarapi pṛcchet-kiyatpramāṇaḥ sattvadhāturiti, tasyāhaṁ bhagavan evaṁ pṛṣṭa evaṁ vadeyam-yatpramāṇo buddhaviṣayaḥ [iti]||
bhagavānāha-sacetpunarapi te mañjuśrīḥ kaścidevaṁ pṛcchet-kiṁparyāpannaḥ sattvadhāturiti, kiṁ tasya tvaṁ vadeḥ ? mañjuśrīrāha-tasyāhaṁ bhagavan evaṁ pṛṣṭa evaṁ vadeyam-yatparyāpannānutpādācintyatā [iti]||
bhagavānāha-sacetpunarapi te mañjuśrīḥ kaścidevaṁ pṛcchet-kiṁpratiṣṭhitaḥ sattvadhāturiti, kiṁ tasya tvaṁ vadeḥ ? mañjuśrīrāha-tasyāhaṁ bhagavan evaṁ pṛṣṭa evaṁ vadeyam-yatpratiṣṭhito'nutpādadhātuḥ tatpratiṣṭhitaḥ sattvadhāturiti||
bhagavānāha-yasmin samaye tvaṁ mañjuśrīḥ prajñāpāramitāṁ bhāvayasi, tadā kutra pratiṣṭhitāṁ prajñāpāramitāṁ bhāvayasi ? mañjuśrīrāha-yasminnahaṁ bhagavan samaye prajñāpāramitāṁ bhāvayāmi, apratiṣṭhito'haṁ tasmin samaye prajñāpāramitāṁ bhāvayāmi||
bhagavānāha-apratiṣṭhitasya te mañjuśrīḥ kā prajñāpāramitābhāvanā ? mañjuśrīrāha-saiva bhagavan prajñāpāramitābhāvanā yanna kvacitpratiṣṭhānam||
bhagavānāha-yasmin samaye tvaṁ mañjuśrīḥ prajñāpāramitāṁ bhāvayasi, kataratte kuśalamūlaṁ tasmin samaye upacayaṁ gacchati apacayaṁ vā ? mañjuśrīrāha-na me bhagavan tasmin samaye kiṁcitkuśalamūlamupacayaṁ gacchati apacayaṁ vā| nāsau prajñāpāramitāṁ bhāvayati yasya kasyaciddharmasya upacayo vā apacayo vā bhavati| na sā bhagavan prajñāpāramitābhāvanā veditavyā, yā kasyaciddharmasya upacayāya vā apacayāya vā pratyupasthitā| sā bhagavan prajñāpāramitābhāvanā yā naiva pṛthagjanadharmān jahāti, nāpi buddhadharmānupādatte| tatkasmāddhetoḥ ? tathā hi bhagavan prajñāpāramitābhāvanā na kasyaciddharmasyopalambhena pratyupasthitā yaṁ dharmaṁ prajahyādupādadīta vā| sā bhagavan prajñāpāramitābhāvanā yā naiva saṁsāradoṣānupayāti na nirvāṇaguṇān| tatkasmāddhetoḥ ? tathā hi bhagavan saṁsārameva tāvann samanupaśyāmi, kaḥ punarvādaḥ saṁsāradoṣān| nirvāṇameva tāvannopalabhe, kaḥ punarvādo nirvāṇaguṇān drakṣyāmi| sā bhagavan prajñāpāramitābhāvanā yanna kasyaciddharmasyādānaṁ vā grahaṇaṁ vā niḥsaraṇaṁ vā| sā bhagavan prajñāpāramitābhāvanā yā na kasyaciddharmasya hānirvā vṛddhirvopalabhyate| tatkasmāddhetoḥ ? na hi bhagavan anutpādo hīyate vā vardhate vā| yaivaṁ bhagavan bhāvanā, sā prajñāpāramitābhāvanā| sā prajñāpāramitābhāvanā yā na kaṁciddharmamutpādayati vā nirodhayati vā| sā bhagavan prajñāpāramitābhāvanā yā na kasyaciddharmasyonatvaṁ vā pūrṇatvaṁ vā karoti| yā bhagavan evaṁ bhāvanā, saiva prajñāpāramitābhāvanā| punaraparaṁ bhagavan sā prajñāpāramitabhāvanā yā naivācintyān dharmān prārthayate na prādeśikān| api tu khalu punarbhagavan tadapi na saṁvidyate yatprārthayate, yena prārthayate, yatra prārthayate| evaṁ bhāvanā bhagavan prajñāpāramitābhāvanā| evaṁ pratyupasthitā ime dharmā agrāḥ ime dharmā hīnā iti| nāpi tān dharmānupalabhate yeṣāṁ dharmāṇāmagratā vā hīnatā vā syāt| evaṁ prajñāpāramitābhāvanāyogamanuyuktaḥ kulaputraḥ sarvadharmān nopalabhate| na bhagavan prajñāpāramitābhāvanā kaṁciddharmamagraṁ vā hīnaṁ vā kalpayati| tatkasmāddhetoḥ ? na hi bhagavan anutpādasya kiṁcidagraṁ vā hīnaṁ vā, nāpi tathatāyā bhūtakoṭyāḥ, yāvat sarvadharmāṇāṁ kiṁcidagraṁ vā hīnaṁ vā| evaṁ bhāvanā bhagavan prajñāpāramitābhāvanā||
evamukte bhagavān mañjuśriyaṁ kumārabhūtamāmantrayate sma-na punarmañjuśrīḥ agrā buddhadharmāḥ ? mañjuśrīrāha-agrāhyatvādbhagavan agrā buddhadharmāḥ| tatkiṁ punarbhagavan sarvadharmāḥ śūnyā iti tathāgatenābhisaṁbuddhāḥ ? bhagavānāha-evametanmañjuśrīḥ śūnyāḥ sarvadharmāstathāgatenābhisaṁbuddhāḥ| mañjuśrīrāha-tatkiṁ punarbhagavan śūnyatāyā agratā vā hīnatā prajñāyate ? bhagavānāha-sādhu sādhu mañjuśrīḥ, evametanmañjuśrīḥ yathā kathayasi| na punarmañjuśrīḥ anuttarā buddhadharmāḥ ? mañjuśrīrāha- evametadbhagavan anuttarā buddhadharmāḥ| tatkasmāddhetoḥ ? tathā hi bhagavan teṣvaṇurapi dharmo na saṁvidyate nopalabhyate| na te anuttarā buddhadharmāḥ| punaraparaṁ bhagavan sā prajñāpāramitābhāvanā yā na buddhadharmāṇāmārādhanāya saṁvartate na pṛgjanadharmāṇāṁ prahāṇāya saṁvartate| na buddhadharmāṇāṁ vinayitrī, na saṁdhārayitrī| evaṁ bhāvanā bhagavan prajñāpāramitābhāvanā||
punaraparaṁ sā bhagavan prajñāpāramitābhāvanā draṣṭavyā yā na kaṁciddharmaṁ cintayati na vijānīte| bhagavānāha-na tvaṁ mañjuśrīḥ buddhadharmāṁścintayasi ? mañjuśrīrāha-no bhagavan| cintayeyamahaṁ bhagavan buddhadharmān, sacedahaṁ buddhadharmāṇāṁ pariniṣpattiṁ paśyeyam| na bhagavan prajñāpāramitābhāvanā kasyaciddharmasya vikalpena pratyupasthitā-ime pṛthagjanadharmāḥ, ime śrāvaka dharmāḥ, ime pratyekabuddhadharmāḥ ime samyaksaṁbuddhadharmā iti| tatkasmāddhetoḥ ? tameva bhagavan dharmaṁ prajñāpāramitābhāvanāyogamanuyuktaḥ kulaputro nopalabhate, yasyaitān dharmān pṛthagjanadharmān vā nirdiśet, śaikṣadharmān vā nirdiśet, aśaikṣadharmān vā nirdiśet, samyaksaṁbuddhadharmān vā nirdiśet| tānatyantatayā dharmān na samanupaśyāmi| evaṁ bhāvanā bhagavan prajñāpāramitābhāvanā| na bhagavan prajñāpāramitābhāvanāyogamanuyuktasya kulaputrasyaivaṁ bhavati-ayaṁ kāmadhātuḥ, ayaṁ rūpadhātuḥ, ayamārūpyadhātuḥ, yāvad ayaṁ nirodhadhāturiti| tatkasmāddhetoḥ? tathā hi sa bhagavan na kaściddharmaḥ, yo nirodhadharmaṁ samanupaśyati| evaṁ bhāvanā bhagavan prajñāpāramitābhāvanā veditavyā||
punaraparaṁ bhagavan eṣā sā prajñāpāramitābhāvanā yā na kasyaciddharmasyopakāraṁ vā apakāraṁ vā karoti| na hi bhagavan prajñāpāramitābhāvanā buddhadharmāṇāṁ dhātrī, na pṛthagjanadharmāṇāmācchetrī| eṣaiva sā bhagavan prajñāpāramitābhāvanā yā naiva pṛthagjanadharmāṇāṁ nirodhaḥ, na buddhadharmāṇāṁ nirodhaḥ, na buddhadharmāṇāṁ pratilambhaḥ||
evamukte bhagavān mañjuśriyaṁ kumārabhūtametadavocat-sādhu sādhu mañjuśrīḥ yastvamimamevaṁrūpaṁ gambhīraṁ dharmaṁ deśayasi| sthāpitā te mañjuśrīriyaṁ mudrā bodhisattvānāṁ mahāsattvānām, ābhimānikānāṁ ca śrāvakāṇām, aupalambhikānāṁ ca bodhisattvayānikānāṁ ca yathābhūtaṁ pratibodhāya| na te mañjuśrīḥ kulaputrā vā kuladuhitaro vā ekabuddhaparyupāsitā bhaviṣyanti naikabuddhāvaropitakuśalamūlāḥ, ye imaṁ gambhīraṁ prajñāpāramitānirdeśaṁ śrutvā notrasiṣyanti na saṁtrasiṣyanti na saṁtrāsamāpatsyante| api tu khalu punarmañjuśrīḥ atikramya te buddhasahasrāvaropitakuśalamūlā bhaviṣyanti, ye imaṁ gambhīraṁ prajñāpāramitānirdeśaṁ śrutvā adhimokṣyanti, notrasiṣyanti na saṁtrasiṣyanti na saṁtrāsamāpatsyante||
evamukte mañjuśrīḥ kumārabhūto bhagavantametadavocat-pratibhāti me bhagavan bhūyasyā mātrayā prajñāpāramitānirdeśaḥ| pratibhātu te mañjuśrīḥ, iti bhagavānasyāvocat| mañjuśrīrāha- eṣā sā bhagavan prajñāpāramitābhāvanā yā na kasyaciddharmasya sthitimupalabhate nāsthitim| tatkasmāddhetoḥ ? asthitatvātsarvadharmāṇāṁ nopalabhate| eṣaiva sa bhagavan prajñāpāramitābhāvanā veditavyā, yā na kasyaciddharmasyādhyālambanāya pratyupasthitā| tatkasya hetoḥ ? tathā hi bhagavan nirālambanāḥ sarvadharmāḥ| evaṁ bhāvanā bhagavan prajñāpāramitābhāvanā||
punaraparaṁ bhagavan sā prajñāpāramitābhāvanā draṣṭavyā yatra buddhadharmā api nābhimukhībhavanti kutaḥ punaḥ pratyekabuddhadharmāḥ| nāpi śrāvakadharmā abhimukhībhavanti, kaḥ punarvādaḥ pṛthagjanadharmāṇām||
punaraparaṁ bhagavan sā prajñāpāramitābhāvanā yā (yāṁ ?) bhāvanāmāgamya acintyānapi buddhadharmānacintyā buddhadharmā iti na vikalpamāpadyate| seyaṁ bhagavan prajñāpāramitābhāvanā bodhisattvānāṁ mahāsattvānāṁ sarvadharmāvikalpāya draṣṭavyā||
punaraparaṁ bhagavan sā prajñāpāramitābhāvanā yā(yāṁ ?) bhāvanāmāgamya sarvadharmān buddhadharmān paśyati, sarvadharmānacintyadharmān paśyatyasamanupaśyanatayā| bahubuddhaśatasahasraparyupāsitāste bhagavan kulaputrāḥ kuladuhitaraśca bhaviṣyanti ye imaṁ prajñāpāramitānirdeśaṁ śrutvā adhimokṣyante nottrasiṣyanti na saṁtrasiṣyanti na saṁtrāsamāpātsyante||
punaraparaṁ bhagavan sā prajñāpāramitābhāvanā yāṁ na kaściddharmaḥ saṁkliśyate vā vyavadāyate vā samanupaśyati| evaṁ bhāvanā bhagavan prajñāpāramitābhāvanā| sā caiṣā bhagavan prajñāpāramitābhāvanā yā naiva pṛthagjananānātvaṁ karoti, na śrāvakanānātvam, na pratyekabuddhanānātvam, yāvat samyaksaṁbuddhanānātvaṁ ca karoti| eṣā sā bhagavan prajñāpāramitābhāvanā|
atha khalu bhagavān mañjuśriyaṁ kumārabhūtamāmantrayate sma-kiyantastvayā mañjuśrīḥ tathāgatāḥ paryupāsitāḥ ? mañjuśrīrāha-yāvanto bhagavan māyāpuruṣasya cittacaitasikā niruddhāḥ, iyanto mayā bhagavan tathāgatāḥ paryupāsitāḥ| bhagavānāha-na tvaṁ mañjuśrīḥ buddhadharmasaṁsthitaḥ ? mañjuśrīrāha-kaścitpunarbhagavan sa dharma upalabhyate yo na buddhadharmasaṁsthitaḥ ? bhagavānāha-kasya punarmañjuśrīḥ ete buddhadharmāḥ ? mañjuśrīrāha-bhagavan tava tāvadete buddhadharmā iti nāma na saṁvidyate nopalabhyate, kutaḥ punaranyeṣāṁ bhaviṣyati ?
bhagavānāha- prāptā te mañjuśrīrasaṅgatā ? mañjuśrīrāha-tadyadā tāvadahaṁ bhagavan na saṅgataiva, tatkiṁ bhūyo'hamasaṅgatāmanuprāpsyāmi ?
bhagavānāha-tatkiṁ niṣaṇṇo'si mañjuśrīrbodhimaṇḍe ? mañjuśrīrāha-bhagavāneva tāvadbodhimaṇḍe na niṣaṇṇaḥ, kathaṁ punarahaṁ niṣatsyāmi bhūtakoṭiṁ pramāṇīkṛtya ? bhagavānāha-bhūtakoṭiriti mañjuśrīḥ kasyaitadadhivacanam ? mañjuśrīrāha-bhūtakoṭiriti bhagavan satkāyasyaitadadhivacanam| bhagavānāha-kiṁ saṁdhāya mañjuśrīrevaṁ vadasi ? mañjuśrīrāha-asanneṣa bhagavan kāyo na satkāyaḥ| naiṣa saṁkrāmati na viṣaṁkrāmati| tenaiṣa kāyo'satkāya||
atha khalvāyuṣmān śāradvatīputro bhagavantametadavocat-niyatāste bhagavan bodhisattvā mahāsattvā bhaviṣyanti bodhaye, ye imaṁ prajñāpāramitānirdeśaṁ śrutvā adhimokṣyante notrasiṣyanti na saṁtrasiṣyanti saṁtrāsamāpatsyante||
atha khalu maitreyo bodhisattvo mahāsattvo bhagavantametadavocat-āsannībhūtāste bhagavan bodhisattvā mahāsattvā bhaviṣyanti bodhaye, ye imaṁ prajñāpāramitānirdeśaṁ śrutvā adhimokṣyante, notrasiṣyanti na saṁtrasiṣyanti na saṁtrāsamāpatsyante| tatkasmāddhetoḥ ? eṣaiva bhagavan paramā bodhiḥ, yaiṣāṁ dharmāṇāmanubodhanā||
atha khalu mañjuśrīḥ kumārabhūto bhagavantametadavocat-buddhā eva te bhagavan bodhisattvā mahāsattvā draṣṭavyāḥ, ye imaṁ prajñāpāramitānirdeśaṁ śrutvā adhimokṣyante, notrasiṣyanti na saṁtrasiṣyanti na saṁtrāsamāpatsyante| tatkasmāddhetoḥ ? buddha iti paramārthato'nutpādasyaitadadhivacanam||
atha khalu nirālambā bhaginī bhagavantametadavocat-na te bhagavan bodhisattvā mahāsattvāḥ pṛthagjanadharmān śrāvakadharmān pratyekabuddhadharmān samyaksaṁbuddhadharmānadhyāmbiṣyante, ye imaṁ prajñāpāramitānirdeśaṁ śrutvā adhimokṣyante, notrasiṣyanti na saṁtrasiṣyanti na saṁtrāsamāpatsyante| tatkasmāddhetoḥ ? tathā hi bhagavan nirālambāḥ sarvadharmā asaṁvidyamānatvāt| tenaiṣāmālambanaṁ na saṁvidyate||
atha khalu bhagavānāyuṣmantaṁ śāradvatīputramāmantrayate sma-evametacchāradvatīputra, evametat| niyatāste kulaputrāḥ kuladuhitaraśca bhaviṣyanti bodhaye, ye imaṁ prajñāpāramitānirdeśaṁ śrutvā adhimokṣyante, nottrasanti na saṁtrasanti na saṁtrāsamāpatsyante| avinivartanīyabhūmau tvaṁ śāradvatīputra pratiṣṭhitāṁstān kulaputrān kuladuhitaraśca jānīṣva, ye imaṁ prajñāpāramitānirdeśaṁ śrutvā adhimokṣyante, nottrasiṣyanti na saṁtrasiṣyanti na saṁtrāsamāpatsyante, mūrdhnā ca pratigrahīṣyanti| te te śāradvatīputra paramadānapatayo bhaviṣyanti mahādānapatayo viśiṣṭadānapatayaḥ| te te śāradvatīputra śīlasaṁpannā bhaviṣyanti paramaśīlavantaḥ paramaviśiṣṭaśīlaguṇapathaprāptāḥ, ye imaṁ prajñāpāramitānirdeśaṁ śrutvā adhimokṣyante, nottrasiṣyanti na saṁtrasiṣyanti na saṁtrāsamāpatsyante| te te śāradvatīputra paramayā kṣāntyā, parameṇa vīryeṇa, paramairdhyānaiḥ, paramayā apratisamayā prajñayā samanvāgatā bhaviṣyanti| te te śāradvatīputra bodhisattvā mahāsattvā yāvat sarvakāravaropetena sarvajñajñānena samanvāgatā bhaviṣyanti, ye imaṁ prajñāpāramitānirdeśaṁ śrutvā adhimokṣyante, notrasiṣyanti na saṁtrasiṣyanti na saṁtrāsamāpatsyante||
punaraparaṁ bhagavan mañjuśriyaṁ kumārabhūmetadavocat-kaṁ punastvaṁ mañjuśrīḥ arthavaśaṁ saṁpaśyan icchasyanuttarāṁ samyaksaṁbodhimabhisaṁboddhum ? mañjuśrīrāha-sacedahaṁ bhagavan bodhaye saṁpratiṣṭheyam, evamahamiccheyamabhisaṁboddhum| nāhaṁ bhagavan bodhiṁ prārthayāmi| tatkasmāddhetoḥ ? bodhirevaiṣa yo'yaṁ mañjuśrīḥ kumārabhūtaḥ||
evamukte bhagavān mañjuśriyaṁ kumārabhūtametadavocat- sādhu sādhu mañjuśrīḥ, yastvamimānyevaṁrūpāṇi gambhīrāṇi gambhīrāṇi sthānāni nirdiśasi| yathāpi tvaṁ pūrvajinakṛtādhikāro'nupalambhaciracaritabrahmacaryaḥ| mañjuśrīrāha-labdha eva bhagavan dharmaḥ syāt, yadyahamanupalambhacārī syām||
evamukte bhagavān mañjuśriyaṁ kumārabhūtametadavocat-paśyasi tvaṁ mañjuśrīrimāṁ mama śrāvakasaṁpadam ? mañjuśrīrāha paśyāmi bhagavan| bhagavānāha-kathaṁ paśyasi ? mañjuśrīrāha-tathāhaṁ bhagavan paśyāmi yathā naiva pṛthagjanāna paśyāmi, naiva śaikṣān paśyāmi, naivāśaikṣān paśyāmi| nāpi paśyāmi, nāpi naiva paśyāmi, evaṁ paśyāmi| yannaiva bahūn paśyāmi, nāpyalpakān paśyāmi| yannaiva vinītān paśyāmi, nāpyavinītān paśyāmi||
atha khalvāyuṣmān śāradvatīputro mañjuśriyaṁ kumārabhūtametadavocat-yastvaṁ mañjuśrīḥ śrāvakayānikānevaṁ paśyasi, samyaksaṁbuddhayānikān punastvaṁ kathaṁ paśyasi ? mañjuśrīrāha- bodhisattva iti bhadanta śāradvatīputra nāma dharmaṁ na samanupaśyāmi, bodhāya saṁprasthita iti nāma dharmaṁ na samanupaśyāmi| bodhāya caratīti nāma dharmaṁ na samanupaśyāmi| abhisaṁbudhyata iti nāma dharmaṁ na samanupaśyāmi| evaṁ bhadanta śāradvatīputra samyaksaṁbuddhayānikān paśyāmi| śāradvatīputra āha-tathāgataṁ punastvaṁ mañjuśrīḥ kathaṁ paśyasi ? mañjuśrīrāha-tiṣṭhatu bhadanta śāradvatīputra mahānāgaḥ| mā mahānāgaṁ ghaṭṭaya||
evamukte āyuṣmān śāradvatīputro mañjuśriyaṁ kumārabhūtametadavocat-buddha iti mañjuśrīḥ kasyaitadadhivacanam ? mañjuśrīrāha-yatpunarbhadanta śāradvatīputra ucyate ātmeti, kasyaitadadhivacanam ? śāradvatīputra āha-anutpādasyaitanmañjuśrīradhivacanaṁ yaduta ātmeti| mañjuśrīrāhaevametadbhadanta śāradvatīputra yasyaitadadhivacanamātmeti, tasyaitadadhivacanaṁ buddha iti| api tu bhadanta śāradvatīputra apadādhivacanametad yadidamucyate buddha iti| na hyetadbhadanta śāradvatīputra vācābhirvijñāpayituṁ buddha iti| vāgapi bhadanta śāradvatīputra na sukarā nirūpayitum- iyaṁ vāgiti, kutaḥ punarbuddha iti| api tu bhadanta śāradvatīputra yadevaṁ vadasi-kasyaitadadhivacanaṁ buddha iti, yo na samudāgato notpanno na nirotsyate, yo na kenaciddharmeṇa samanvāgato nāpyatra kiṁcitpadamabhedam, apadasyaitadbhadanta śāradvatīputra adhivacanaṁ yaduta buddha iti| tathāgataṁ bhadanta śāradvatīputra paryeṣitukāmena ātmā paryeṣitavyaḥ| ātmeti bhadanta śāradvatīputra buddhasyaitadadhivacanam| yathā ātmā atyantatayā na saṁvidyate nopalabhyate, tathā buddho'pyatyantatayā na saṁvidyate nopalabhyate| yathā ātmā na kenaciddharmeṇa vacanīyaḥ, tathā buddho'pi na kenaciddharmeṇa vacanīyaḥ| yatra na kācitsaṁkhyā, sa ucyate buddha iti| na caitadbhadanta śāradvatīputra sukaramājñātumātmeti yadadhivacanam, evametadbhadanta śāradvatīputra na sukaramājñātuṁ buddha iti yadadhivacanam||
atha khalvāyuṣmān śāradvatīputro bhagavantametadavocat-nāyaṁ bhagavan mañjuśrīḥ kumārabhūtastathā deśayati yathā ādikarmikā bodhisattvā ājānīyuḥ| evamukte mañjuśrīḥ kumārabhūtaḥ āyuṣmantaṁ śāradvatīputrametadavocat-nāhaṁ bhadanta śāradvatīputra tathā deśayāmi yathā kṛtāvino'pyarhanta ājñāsyanti| nāpyahaṁ tathā deśayāmi yathā kaścidvijñāsyati| tatkasmāddhetoḥ ? na bodhiḥ kenacidvijñātā, nāpi saṁbuddhā, na dṛṣṭā, na śrutā, na smṛtā, notpāditā, na nirodhitā, noddiṣṭā, nopadeśitā| etāvadeva bhadanta śāradvatīputra yāvatā bodhiḥ| sā ca bodhirna bhāvo nāpyabhāvaḥ| tatkasmāddhetoḥ ? na bodhyā kiṁcidabhisaṁboddhavyam, nāpi bodhirbodhimabhisaṁbudhyate||
śāradvatīputra āha-na mañjuśrīrbhagavatā dharmadhāturabhisaṁbuddhaḥ ? mañjuśrīrāha-na bhadanta śāradvatīputra bhagavatā dharmadhāturabhisaṁbuddhaḥ| tatkasmāddhetoḥ ? tathā hi bhadanta śāradvatīputra dharmadhātureva bhagavān| sacedbhadanta śāradvatīputra bhagavatā dharmadhāturabhisaṁbuddhaḥ syāt, tadyo'sāvanutpādadhātuḥ sa nirudhyo bhavet| api tu bhadanta śāradvatīputra sa eva dharmadhāturbodhiḥ| tatkasmāddhetoḥ ? niḥsattvo hi dharmadhātuḥ| abhāvāḥ sarvadharmā iti bodheradhivacanametat, yo'sau dharmadhāturiti saṁkhyāṁ gacchati| tatkasmāddhetoḥ ? sarvadharmā hyanānātvaṁ buddhaviṣayataḥ| anānātvamiti bhadanta śāradvatīputra avijñaptikaṁ padametat| avijñaptikamiti bhadanta śāradvatīputra naitacchakyaṁ vijñāpayituṁ saṁskṛtatvena vā yāvad asaṁskṛtatvena vā| na tatra kācidvijñaptiḥ, tena tadavijñaptikam| sarvadharmā hi bhadanta śāradvatīputra avijñaptikāḥ| tatkasmāddhetoḥ ? tathā hi sarvadharmāṇāṁ prādurbhāvo nāsti yasmin sthitvā vijñapyeran| ye'pyamī ānantaryaprasṛtā acintyaprasṛtāḥ, te| ye ca acintyaprasṛtā bhūtaprasṛtāste| tatkasmāddhetoḥ? bhūtamiti bhadanta śāradvatīputra abhedapadametat| ye'pi acintyadharmasamanvāgatāḥ, naiva te svargagāminaḥ, na apāyagāminaḥ, na parinirvāṇagāminaḥ| tatkasmāddhetoḥ ? na hi acintyaṁ gamanāgamanena pratyupasthitam, yāvat na parinirvāṇaṁ gamanāgamanena pratyupasthitam| ye'pi bhadanta śāradvatīputra catasṛṣu mūlāpattiṣvavasthitāḥ, amūle te'vasthitāḥ| tatkasmāddhetoḥ ? na hi bhadanta śāradvatīputra anutpādasya mūlaṁ vā agraṁ vā iṣyate| amūlo bhikṣuriti apratiṣṭhitasya bhikṣoretadadhivacanam| utpannamadhikaraṇamiti adhikasamāropasyaitadadhivacanam| adhikasamārope bhadanta sāradvatīputra caran loke dakṣiṇīyo bhavati| tatkasmāddhetoḥ ? tathā hi samaḥ so'dhikasamāropaḥ| śrāddho bhadanta śāradvatīputra bhikṣurnārhati śraddhādeyaṁ paribhoktum| aśrāddho bhadanta śāradvatīputra bhikṣurarhati śraddhādeyaṁ paribhoktum| kalpito bhadanta śāradvatīputra bhikṣurnārhati śraddhādeyaṁ paribhoktum| akalpiko bhadanta śāradvatīputra bhikṣurarhati śraddhādeyaṁ paribhoktum| asamupahatanetrīko bhikṣurarhan kṣīṇāsrava ityucyate||
śāradvatīputra āha-kiṁ saṁdhāya mañjuśrīrevaṁ vadasi ? mañjuśrīrāha-na samatā samupahatā, yā samatā saiva sā netrī| idaṁ saṁdhāya bhadanta śāradvatīputra evaṁ vadāmi-asamupahatanetrīko bhikṣurarhan kṣīṇāsrava ityucyate| anuttīrṇabhaya (bhava ?) iti bhadanta śāradvatīputra arhataḥ kṣīṇāsravasyaitadadhivacanam| śāradvatīputra āha-kiṁ saṁdhāya mañjuśrīrevaṁ vadasi ? mañjuśrīrāha-aṇūnyapi tasya bhayāni na saṁvidyante| tatkimuttariṣyati ? idaṁ saṁdhāya bhadanta śāradvatīputra evaṁ vadāmi-anuttīrṇabhaya iti arhataḥ kṣīṇāsravasyaitadadhivacanamiti||
śāradvatīputra āha-anutpannakṣāntika iti mañjuśrīḥ kasyaitadadhivacanam ? mañjuśrīrāha-yena bhadanta śāradvatīputra aṇurapi dharmo notpāditaḥ, sa ucyate'nutpannakṣāntika iti||
śāradvatīputra āha-avinīto bhikṣuriti mañjuśrīḥ kasyaitadadhivacanam ? mañjuśrīrāha-avinīto bhikṣuriti bhadanta śāradvatīputra arhataḥ kṣīṇāsravasyaitadadhivacanam| tatkasmāddhetoḥ ? avinayo hi vinītaḥ, na vinayo vinītaḥ| idaṁ saṁdhāya bhadanta śāradvatīputra evaṁ vadāmi- avinīto bhikṣuriti arhataḥ kṣīṇāsravasyaitadadhivacanam||
śāradvatīputra āha- adhicitte caratīti mañjuśrīḥ kasyaitadadhivacanam ? mañjuśrīrāha- adhicitte caratīti bhadanta śāradvatīputra pṛthagjanasyaitadadhivacanam| śāradvatīputra āha- kiṁ saṁdhāya mañjuśrīrevaṁ vadasi ? mañjuśrīrāha-tathā hi bhadanta śāradvatīputra so'dhikaroti||
evamukte āyuṣmān śāradvatīputro mañjuśriyaṁ kumārabhūtametadavocat-sādhu sādhu mañjuśrīḥ, yathā arhan kṣīṇāsravastathā kathayasi| mañjuśrīrāha-evametadbhadanta śāradvatīputra yathā vadasi| kṣīṇāsravo'smi, na cārhan| tatkasmāddhetoḥ ? tathā hi bhadanta śāradvatīputra kṣīṇā me āsravāḥ śrāvakabhūmau vā pratyekabuddhabhūmau vā| anena bhadanta śāradvatīputra paryāyeṇa kṣīṇāsravo na cārhan||
atha khalu bhagavān mañjuśriyaṁ kumārabhūtametadavocat-syānmañjuśrīḥ paryāyo yadbodhisattvo mahāsattvo bodhimaṇḍe niṣaṇṇo'bhavyo'nuttarāṁ samyaksaṁbodhimabhisaṁboddhum ? mañjuśrīrāhasyādbhagavan paryāyaḥ yabdodhisattvo mahāsattvo bodhimaṇḍe niṣaṇṇaḥ abhavyo'nuttarāṁ samyaksaṁbodhimabhisaṁboddhum| tatkasya hetoḥ ? tathā hi bodhāvaṇurapi dharmo na saṁvidyate nopalabhyate| tenocyate'nuttarā samyaksaṁbodhiriti| sā ca bodhiranutpannā| tatra na kaściddharmaḥ saṁvidyate nopalabhyate, yo bodhimaṇḍe niṣīdet, yo vā bodhimabhisaṁbudhyet, yena vā bodhirabhisaṁbudhyeta, yo vā bodhimaṇḍāduttiṣṭhediti| anena bhagavan paryāyeṇa abhavyo bodhisattvo mahāsattvo bodhimaṇḍe niṣaṇṇo'nuttarāṁ samyaksaṁbodhimabhisaṁboddhum||
evamukte bhagavān mañjuśriyaṁ kumārabhūtametadavocat-bodhiriti mañjuśrīḥ kasyaitadadhivacanam ? mañjuśrīrāha- bodhiriti bhagavan pañcānāmānantaryāṇāmetadadhivacanam| tatkasmāddhetoḥ ? tathā hi bodhiprakṛtikānyeva tāni pañcānantaryāṇi abhāvatvāt| tenaiṣā bodhirānantaryaprakṛtikā, anantaryāṇāmabhisaṁbudhyanā bodhiḥ, na ca pratyakṣībhāvanā sarvadharmeṣu bodhiḥ| tatkasmāddhetoḥ ? sarvadharmā hi atyantatayā apratyakṣāḥ| te na kenacidabhisaṁbuddhāḥ, na dṛṣṭāḥ, na jñātāḥ, yāvat na viditāḥ| evameṣā bodhiḥ| api tu khalu punarbhagavan abhimānikaiḥ sthāpitānyetāni abhisaṁbudhāni(ddhā ?), yāvat pratyakṣīkṛtāni||
evamukte bhagavān mañjuśriyaṁ kumārabhūtametadavocat-kiṁ te mañjuśrīḥ mamāntike evaṁ bhavati-tathāgato me tathāgata iti ? mañjuśrīrāha-no hīdaṁ bhagavan| tatkasmāddhetoḥ ? na me bhagavan evaṁ bhavet-tathāgato me tathāgata iti| tatkasmāddhetoḥ ? [tathā caiva tathatā ca] yathā ca tathātā, tathā caiṣa tathāgataḥ| tathā hi bhagavan na tathatā tathāgataṁ vijñapayati, nāpi tathāgatastathatāṁ vijñapayati| tatkasmāddhetoḥ ? tathā hi bhagavan paramārthato'bhāvā tathatā| abhāvastathāgataḥ| tasmāttarhi bhagavan na me evaṁ bhavati-tathāgato me tathāgata iti| api tu tathāgata iti bhagavan nāmadheyamātrametat| tat kataro'sau tathāgato yatra me evaṁ bhaviṣyati-tathāgato me tathāgata iti ? bhagavānāha-sa (tat ?)saṁśayaste mañjuśrīstathāgate? mañjuśrīrāha-no hīdaṁ bhagavan| syādatra me bhagavan saṁśayaḥ, sacet kācittathāgatapariniṣpattiḥ syat, tathāgatotpattirvā tathāgataparinirvāṇaṁ vā||
evamukte bhagavān mañjuśriyaṁ kumārabhūtametadavocat-na tava mañjuśrīrevaṁ bhavati-utpannastathāgata iti? mañjuśrīrāha-syānme bhagavan utpannastathāgata iti, saceddharmadhātorutpattiḥ syāt||
bhagavānāha-nādhimucyase tvaṁ mañjuśrīḥ gaṅgānadīvālukopamā buddhā bhagavantaḥ parinirvṛtā iti ? mañjuśrīrāha-kaścit punarbhagavan ekaviṣayā buddha bhagavanto yadidamacintyaviṣayāḥ ? bhagavānāha-evametanmañjuśrīḥ, ekaviṣayā buddhā bhagavanto yadidamacintyaviṣayāḥ| mañjuśrīrāha-kaścitpunarbhagavan etarhi tiṣṭhati? bhagavānāha-evametanmañjuśrīḥ| mañjuśrīrāha-tena hi bhagavan ete gaṅgānadīvālukopamā buddhā bhagavanto na parinirvṛtāḥ| tatkasmāddhetoḥ ? tathā hi bhagavan ekaviṣayā buddhā bhagavanto yadidamacintyaviṣayāḥ| na ca acintyatā utpadyate nirudhyate vā| tasmādbhagavan bhagavato vā abhisaṁbuddhena (ddhasya ?) ye'pi te anāgate'dhvani tathagatā arhantaḥ samyaksaṁbuddhā bhaviṣyanti, abhisaṁbuddhā eva te| tatkasmāddhetoḥ ? na hi acintyatā atītā vā anāgatā vā pratyutpannā vā| tasmādbhagavan vibhramasteṣāṁ lokasaṁniveśaḥ| prapañcayanti te bhagavan lokasaṁniveśaṁ yeṣāmevaṁ bhavati- utpannastathāgato yāvat parinirvāsyati veti||
evamukte bhagavān mañjuśriyaṁ kumārabhūtametadavocat- tena hi tvaṁ mañjuśrīḥ idaṁ tathāgatācintyam, acintyaṁ niścintyaṁ tathāgatasya vā agrata udāhārairudāhareḥ, avaivartikasya bodhisattvasya mahāsattvasya vā arhato vā kṣīṇāsravasya| tatkasmāddhetoḥ ? tathā hi te śrutvā naivānujñāsyanti, naiva pratikrokṣyanti| tatkasmāddhetoḥ ? tathā hi taccintyamacintyaṁ niścintyam| mañjuśrīrāha-acintyānāṁ niścintyānāṁ bhagavan sarvadharmāṇāṁ ko'trānujñāsyati vā pratikrokṣyati vā ? bhagavānāha-yathaiva mañjuśrīḥ tathāgato niścintyaḥ, tathaiva pṛthagjanā api niścintyāḥ| mañjuśrīrāha-pṛthagjanā api bhagavan tathaiva niścintyāḥ ? bhagavānāha-evametanmañjuśrīḥ| tatkasmāddhetoḥ ? tathā hi sarvāṇyacintyāni niścintyāni| mañjuśrīrāha-tatkasmādbhagavānevamāha-yathaiva tathāgato niścintyaḥ, evaṁ pṛthagjanā api niścintyā iti ? nanu bhagavan pṛthagjanatvamapi niścintyam| tatkasmāddhetoḥ ? niścintyā hi bhagavan sarvadharmāḥ| ye kecidbhagavan parinirvāṇāya prasthitāḥ, vihariṣyante te bhagavan| tatkasmāddhetoḥ ? yaiva niścintyatā tadeva parinirvāṇam| tasmāttarhi bhagavan nāsti niścintyatāyāṁ nānātvam| ye'pi bhagavan evamāhuḥ-ime pṛthagjanadharmāḥ, ime āryadharmā iti, te idaṁ vacanīyāḥ- kalyāṇamitrāṇi tāvatparyupāsadhvam, tataḥ paścājjñāsyatha-ime pṛthagjanadharmāḥ ime āryadharmā iti||

bhagavānāha-icchasi tvaṁ mañjuśrīḥ tathāgatamacintyadharmasamanvāgatam ? mañjuśrīrāha-iccheyamahaṁ bhagavan tathāgatamacintyadharmasamanvāgatam, sacetkaścidacintyadharmasamanvāgataḥ syāt||
bhagavānāha- icchasi punastvaṁ mañjuśrīrevam-ime śrāvakāstathāgatena vinītā iti ? mañjuśrīrāha-iccheyamahaṁ bhagavan evam-ime śrāvakāstathāgatena vinītā iti, sacet kaścidacintyadhātuvinayaṁ gacchet| na bhagavan buddhotpādaḥ kaśyacidupakāreṇa vā apakāreṇa vā pratyupasthitaḥ| taktasmāddhetoḥ ? tathā hi sthita eṣa dhātuḥ, asaṁkīrṇa eṣa dhātuḥ, yaduta acintyadhātuḥ| tasmiśca dhātau na śrāvakanānātvam, yāvat na pṛthagjananānātvamupalabhyate||
bhagavānāha-na tvaṁ mañjuśrīrevamicchasi-anuttaraṁ puṇyakṣetraṁ tathāgata iti ? mañjuśrīrāha-abhāvatvābhdagavan puṇyakṣetraṁ tathagataḥ, tenaitadanuttaraṁ puṇyakṣetram| yenaitatpuṇyakṣetraṁ nāpuṇyakṣetram, tenaitadanuttaraṁ puṇyakṣetram| api tu khalu punarbhagavan nātra kaściddharmaḥ samudāgacchati na kṣīyate| evaṁ tatpuṇyakṣetram| tatra ca bījaṁ prakṣiptaṁ na vivardhate na parihīyate| bhagavānāha-kiṁ saṁdhāya mañjuśrīrevaṁ vadasi-tatra kṣetre bījamavaropitaṁ na vivardhate na parihīyate iti ? mañjuśrīrāha-tathā hi bhagavan acintyaṁ tatkṣetram, evaṁ tatpuṇyakṣetram||
atha khalu tasyāṁ velāyāṁ buddhānubhāvena ṣaḍvikāraṁ mahāpṛthivīcālo'bhūt, ṣoḍaśānāṁ ca bhikṣusahasrāṇāmanupādāyāsravebhyaścittāni vimuktāni, saptānāṁ bhikṣuṇīśatānāṁ trayāṇāṁ copāsakaśatānāṁ catvāriṁśataścopāsikāsahasrāṇāṁ ṣaṣṭeśca kāmāvacarāṇāṁ devakoṭīniyutaśatānāṁ virajo vigatamalaṁ dharmeṣu dharmacakṣurutpannam||
atha khalvāyuṣmānānanda utthāyāsanādekāṁsacīvaraṁ prāvṛtya dakṣiṇaṁ jānumāṇḍalaṁ pṛthivyāṁ pratiṣṭhāpya yena bhagavāṁstenāñjaliṁ praṇamya bhagavantametadavocat-ko bhagavan hetuḥ, kaḥ pratyayo'sya mahataḥ pṛthivīcālasya loke prādurbhāvāya ? evamukte bhagavānāyuṣmāntamānandametadavocat-ayamānanda puṇyakṣetranirdeśo nāma dharmaparyāyaḥ pūrvakairapi buddhairbhagavadbhirasminneva pṛthivīpradeśe bhāṣitaḥ| ayamānanda hetuḥ, ayaṁ pratyayo'sya mahataḥ pṛthivīcālasya loke prādurbhāvāya||
